The Brights Have It

The Story

I hate neon…  If that didn’t come across clear enough, let me say it again…  I HATE NEON!!!  I grew up in the 80’s, with the late 80’s and 90’s being the prime era from which I  sprung forth, becoming a fully conscious human being… I remember Neon all too well.  From the hideous fashion choices we made in Jr. High to the photographic evidence of the nasty Neon in family photo albums.  I was none to impressed when Neon started showing up in fashion again a couple of years ago…. I was prepared to hate it with a passion.  Well, things change.  Recently I have been attracted to the brightest of the brights when it comes to scrapbook product and the following layouts showcase just that.

I used a couple of Project Life Mini kits, some Special Neon American Crafts products that can currently be found at Michaels, Studio Calico woodies and Hero Arts Neon Stamp Pads to embellish the following layouts.  I started going neon and I just could not stop.

Handsome with Lawn Fawn

The Story

So, I won a $20 gift card to Creative Embellishments a few weeks ago and I finally got my order in the mail.  I picked up a couple packages of wood veneer (weather and candy hearts) some chipboard frames and a new background stamp.  I am super impressed with the quality of these products… and a few have found themselves a home on this layout.

Also, interesting to mention that I have bought 2 pieces of Lawn Fawn paper ever. The two pieces on this layout (and they are from different collections.)  I originally bought the one piece for the Hello Sunshine Yellow side, but when I sat down with this picture I knew I wanted to use that orange side, but I couldn’t let the yellow go to waste.  Hello chipboard frame!  Loved the size of this in the end, at first I thought it was huge, but worked well with the photo.

To be honest, this layout was not really working for me.  I finished it and set it on my dresser for a few days where I was forced to look at it a time a two every day and it really grew on me.

Oh My Gosh!!! with Allison Kreft Paper

The Layout

DSCN1782

I am currently obsessed with anything Allison Kreft.  She has some of the best designs… it doesn’t matter if she is designing with Webster’s Pages (as above) or with Echo Park… I just love it all.  Funny thing is, when her lines first started showing up I was not uber-impressed…  That has, however, changed!!!  I am  loving all her lines, old and new!

When lying flat my stapled ribbon lays where it is supposed to… it just did not like standing up.

DSCN1784

I love this map print… So pretty and of course it has all my favorite colors right now.  I love how Allison Kreft’s lines from the same manufacturer go together so well. This page has three different collections that she has put out with Webster’s.

DSCN1785

Everyone knows I love these wood polaroid frames from Michaels.  I am just about out….  does anyone know where I can get more?  I love them so.

I painted the wood veneer potty person with some Tattered angels…  The frame was inked with a Heidi Swapp inkpad.

DSCN1786

The speech bubble came from Michaels…  It caught my eye many times before I finally picked it up.

So Much To Catch You Up On–National Scrapbook Day Layouts at A Cherry On Top

Ahhhh May…. finally it has been getting nice here in Central Illinois…  which means I have been a stuffed up snotty mess.  Between kidney stones, sinus infections, pollen allergies, CT scans, MRIs, computer problems, and work I have not had a whole lot of time to update the blog with new projects.  I am still in this “I have no patience for any kind of BS” mood… so this is going to be a quick post with lots of pictures.  I will try to come back and write more when I am not so frustrated with everything I touch….

Julie Nutting Card – Scrap Happy NSD Challenge from ACOT

DSCN1671

My very best friend was here last weekend and after seeing a gelato on my work space he asked what it was.  I made this card to show him what gelatos were.  I love the gold gelato smeared over all the other colors.  Of course I used one of my newer Julie Nutting doll stamps.

Every Birthday Is A Milestone – NSD Surprise Challenge at ACOT

DSCN1692

Not much to say here….  I liked the page until I wrote on it.  Now it kinda feels like a bum layout so I just kind of quit embellishing it.  I did want to include it here because I had some good ideas.  I love the look of the Julie Nutting doll on the layout… and cutting apart Project Life cards to create my photo mat was pretty cool too.
